THE SAFFRON TREE

Discipline was the foundation.
Cultural fluency was the language.
Global standards without compromise. For fourteen years,
The Saffron Tree translated intricate surface craftsmanship
into contemporary collections retailed through the world’s most prestigious
luxury platforms – Harrods, Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, Selfridges.
Artisanal intelligence. Engineered at scale.

FOUNDER‘S NOTE

The Saffron Tree emerged from years spent mastering structure, scale and craft. Formally trained at Pearl
Academy of Fashion, my foundation was rooted in fashion and structural clarity. My journey progressed
through global sourcing houses, where I learned the discipline of international production – precision,
compliance and the rigour of global standards.

In 2006, I met Yoana Baraschi, a designer distinguished by lineage and uncompromising craft depth.
Our collaboration became a shared pursuit of translating intricate vintage surface ornamentation into
contemporary silhouettes, balancing sculptural structure with artisanal precision.
From that alignment, The Saffron Tree took root in 2007.

The house evolved into a trusted manufacturing partner to internationally retailed luxury labels, built
largely through reputation and word of mouth. Working closely with internationally recognised designers
refined not only our technical standards, but our aesthetic discipline. The house grew into a skilled
ecosystem of artisans and technical operators, contributing to employment and economic growth.

As a first-generation entrepreneur, building this enterprise demanded conviction and sustained discipline,
navigating global expectations while strengthening local capability. It remains the most defining chapter
of my professional life.

At its core was a singular pursuit: to carry Indian craftsmanship into the world’s most demanding
luxury markets, not as nostalgia, but as contemporary excellence.

RUNWAY

Selected Collaborations with International Design Houses
Yoana Baraschi, Nicole Farhi, Tracy Reese, Diesel and Anthropologie . . .
Within a broader portfolio of more than three dozen design houses operating
across the United States, France, Italy, the United Kingdom, Spain and Brazil.

THE CRAFT

Craft at The Saffron Tree was never merely decorative, it was structural.
Each discipline demanded control, patience and calibrated execution.
Over time, technique shaped culture. The house was defined not by a single method,
but by fluency across surface disciplines: textile manipulation, vintage-inspired lacework,
cutwork, hand beading, embroidery and structural textile development.
Precision was non-negotiable. Craft translated into contemporary form without compromise.

Behind every technique was a team.
Behind every team, years of cultivation.

CULTURAL PRESENCE

Collections manufactured by The Saffron Tree were worn by internationally recognised
public figures and featured across global red-carpet and cultural platforms…
These appearances included Michelle Obama, Taylor Swift, Halle Berry and
Dita Von Teese … with editorial features across international publications such as
People Magazine, InStyle and Collezioni Trend, alongside cultural platforms
including the amfAR Gala Reflecting the house’s alignment with designers
of global visibility and influence.

TRUST . . .

Enduring partnerships are not built on transactions.
They are built on respect and trust.

Deepti is an outstanding
manufacturer, a highly ethical
business person and a devoted
supporter and promoter of the Indian
craftsman tradition. She is that rare
consummate professional able to
combine a love and understanding
of the creative process,
an exquisite taste level and expert
knowledge of manufacturing
techniques with the ability to produce
quality well priced goods on time.
During the 9 years of our
collaboration, Deepti’s company was
instrumental in producing some of
the most successful signature
embellished styles in my collection
and in translating them for my
high volume collaboration
with Anthropologie.

Craft . Vision . Legacy

Yoana Baraschi – A Defining Chapter
Some collaborations produce collections.
A rare few produce standards.
When I first began working with Yoana,
the bar was not implied, it was explicit.
Precision was non-negotiable. Proportion
was deliberate. She did not tolerate
approximation. Every garment was
interrogated – balance, weight, finish,
restraint. That rigor demanded that we
build differently: tighter systems, sharper
quality control, deeper craft discipline. It
was within that expectation that The
Saffron Tree found its footing. What
began as production became calibration.
Her clarity of vision required us to evolve
beyond capacity, into exactness.
Yoana did not simply collaborate.
She set a benchmark.
And from that benchmark,
a legacy took root
